Simpler, Smarter Banking
Internet Banking Platform (UnionOnline) and Mobile Banking Application (UnionMobile) UI/UX Redesign and Development
Union Bank Nigeria commissioned Ellae to provide a comprehensive, integrated, interoperable, and modular solution that would enable the bank manage evolving customer expectations stemming from their recent rebrand and repositioning exercise. The application was to focus on empowering customers for self-service, enabling customers to easily manage their online transactions.
The project was to involve the redesign and development of both their Internet Banking platform and Mobile Banking application used by over 2,700 staff and almost 2 million customers including both individual and corporate clients of the bank.
A cutting-edge and world-class User Interface (UI) was developed and integrated their new ‘Simpler and Smarter’ brand positioning/identity, the UI also
offered a better and more streamlined User Experience (UX) for their customers. Over 100 designed/developed pages/screens were developed with the popular front-end development framework, Bootstrap. The frame work was extensively customized particularly for the project. Each page was designed with the attendant security features and design outlook ensuring the right application of their brand elements across the platforms.

• Security management covering application and role-based access
• Service-oriented architecture supports agile business process management
• Componentized architecture helps build scalable and reusable solutions
• Segment color scheme adaptation
• Responsive behavior across all the pages
The new Internet Banking header contains multiple drawers for quick navigation to your profile, accounts, help and products and services.
The ‘Quick tasks’ side panel provides quick access to account tools directly from the overview screen.
Users can make a transfer between their accounts or pay an existing recipient quickly from the new and simplified transfers page.
The saved beneficiaries page was also redesigned. The account tile reappears at the top allowing the same easy access to all account tools.
